We had a great first week in math! We built our math binders and began to look at our first unit: Rigid Transformations and Congruence. We have our geometry toolkits ready to help us dive in next week. We compeleted Lesson 1.1 and 1.2.
A few notes for this upcoming week:
Hello 8th graders. I am looking forward to working with you this year. You will see me first thing in the morning (with my coffee). As you will see on Wednesday, I like organized and neat classrooms. However, I have three small kids and love to get messy as long as we work together to clean it up.
This year we will be working with Open Up Resources in Math. You can reach the website at http://im.openupresources.org/. This is an awesome website that includes all of our materials for following the Common Core Curriculum in 8th grade. You can reach any of our lessons online at home and there are also family materials for your parents to check out. Your online student code to reach the student materials is: Username: students Password: mymath These lessons are based on investigations that you will complete as groups, partners, and sometimes by yourself. You will see that I enjoy working together to solve problems. I'm not one to lecture. I want to help you explore! You can expect to be given a set of HW problems every Monday. This set will cover 3 lessons and will be due on Thursday. If you need more time you will be able to use your study hall time on Friday. I also will be giving quizzes on most Fridays. Thanks and see you all soon, Liz |
